Lucero Gomez has always had a passion for hair styling. After working as an independent hairstylist for eight years, she was faced with the sad reality that staying in the same position was a dead end for her, therefore, owning her own salon was the only option but unfortunately, she had no knowledge how and where to start.

Strategies

Eager to find better ways to increase her revenue and start her business, she found the CA Hispanic SBDC/Programa Hispano. After enrolling in the 12-week business development program, Lucero learned the basic principles of starting and managing her own business which gave her the confidence to move forward with opening her own salon. Working one-on-one with Oscar Garcia, her SBDC consultant, Lucero was able to develop a business plan, work on financials, licenses and write business proposals.

Ansiosa de encontrar mejores formas de aumentar sus ingresos y comenzar su negocio, Lucero encontró al Programa Hispano. Después de inscribirse en el programa de desarrollo comercial de 12 semanas, Lucero aprendió los principios básicos para iniciar y administrar su propio negocio, lo que le dio la seguridad de seguir adelante con la idea de abrir su propio salón. Results

Lucero’s dedication and commitment led to the start of Estética Art & Beauty which opened its doors one week before the 12-week program ended. With the continuous support of Oscar Garcia and Edith Gomez, Lucero was able to develop a marketing plan and strategy to gain new customers and increase sales.

Even during the difficulties of the COVID-19 pandemic, Oscar and Edith were able to guide her through the PPP and EIDL loans which were very instrumental in the survival of her business. Thanks to the support of her mentors and consultants, “Estética Art & Beauty” is a successful business entity that went from a $40,000 dollars annual income as a sole proprietor to $177,000 dollars annual S-corporation.

La dedicación y el compromiso de Lucero la llevaron al inicio de Estética Art & Beauty, que abrió sus puertas una semana antes de que finalizara el programa de 12 semanas. Con el apoyo continuo de Oscar García y Edith Gómez, Lucero pudo desarrollar un plan y una estrategia de mercadotecnia para atraer nuevos clientes y aumentar las ventas.
